This Privacy Policy describes how the Japtap app (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our Android application available on Google Play. By using the app, you agree to this policy.
If you create an account or sign in (e.g. with email or Google), we may collect: name, email address, and gender. This is used to provide sync across devices and to personalize your experience.
Jap counts, daily targets, mantras, reminders, theme and sound preferences, and custom chants (including any images or audio you add) are stored locally on your device. If you are logged in, this data may be synced to our servers to support multi-device use.
We do not collect precise location, contacts, or SMS. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
The app requests the following permissions and uses them only as described:
We do not request access to your contacts, camera, or location. Image and microphone access are used only when you explicitly choose to add a photo or record audio for a custom chant; that data stays on your device or in your synced account.
Japtap offers optional premium membership (e.g. VIP / ad-free and extra themes) through Google Play Billing. All payments are processed by Google. We do not see or store your payment card or financial details. We may receive from Google:

The app may show ads via Google Mobile Ads (AdMob). AdMob may collect device identifiers, IP address, and usage data to serve relevant ads and measure performance. This is governed by Google’s policies:

Data on your device remains until you uninstall the app or clear app data. If you use account sync, you may request account deletion (e.g. via in-app “Delete account” or by contacting us). We will delete or anonymize your account and synced data in line with our data retention practices and applicable law.
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data. Account and sync traffic use HTTPS. Sensitive data (e.g. auth tokens) is stored in secure storage on the device. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we encourage you to use a strong password and keep your device secure.
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Your data may be processed in India or other countries where our servers or service providers operate. By using the app, you consent to such transfer and processing in accordance with this policy.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy in the app or on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
